Your analysis should include at least two selections from the Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives along with several other of our required sources. You should also include texts relevant to your own evolution in scientific literacy, if applicable. Use the sources provided to define what scientific literacy is (and what it means to you) and why it matters.

Complete Reverse Outline of your paper. Make a copy of this template to fill in with your own info. Make note of any paragraphs that you think should be broken up, moved to a different place in the paper, deleted.
Work with a partner to exchange papers and completed reverse outlines. Partner should make additions to the reverse outline form (in a different color) regarding any elements that could use clarification (e.g. perhaps the focus of a paragraph is not clear, or paragraph should be moved to a different place, split up, perhaps deleted, etc.).
Remainder of class devoted to open office hours for students who want help with drafts.

Note that you must use in-text parenthetical citations (author/authors and page #) for any material that is either quoted or paraphrased (put into your own words). Also note that our program prefers paraphrasing over direct quotes. Any direct quotes should be brief, “sandwiched” with your own commentary, and only included if the wording itself is especially convincing or persuasive.
