Due This Week:
Complete draft of your Learning Module 1 essay (5-6 pages, double spaced – don’t be afraid to delete anything that seems redundant or extraneous from your 2000 word draft). This should be in the same Google Doc you’ve been using from the beginning. This draft must include in-text parenthetical citations and a works cited for any material that is quoted or paraphrased from another source.

Note that you must use in-text parenthetical citations (author/authors and page #) for any material that is either quoted or paraphrased (put into your own words). Also note that our program prefers paraphrasing over direct quotes. Any direct quotes should be brief, “sandwiched” with your own commentary, and only included if the wording itself is especially convincing or persuasive.

Before Thursday of next week:
Polish and finalize Learning Module 1 Essay. Again, keep working in the same Google Doc. Your final version of your essay (5-6 pages, double spaced, 1 inch-margins, MLA format, with in-text parenthetical citations and a works cited) must appear in our folder on CI Docs before Thursday of next week.
You will also submit your final draft your climate essay to CI Learn.
Please note: If this final draft does not meet all expectations for the assignment (including integrating several of our required sources), you will be considered too far behind in the class to recover and will not be permitted to submit a portfolio at the end of the semester. This means you will not pass ENGL 105 and will need to retake the class next year.
In order to stay caught up in the class and be permitted to submit a final portfolio at the end of the semester, you must have this essay completed before Thursday 3/3/16. If you have concerns in this regard, please set up an appointment to meet with me ASAP.
