SURF Week 7 Agenda

In Class

  • Update any dietary restrictions for Santa Rosa Island Trip.
  • Post to Faculty Research Roundtable Padlet

    • You can double-click anywhere on the window to post your comment. Make sure to give a title that captures the overall sentiment of your post. You can choose to include your name in your post or not — it’s up to you. As comments are posted, you will see them filling the window in a grid-like format, but there is always room for additional comments.

  • Prep for next Research Roundtable on October 14th.
    • Can share anything new you’ve learned from any SURF courses.
    • Create new Google doc in the folder above to brainstorm ideas.
    • Create a slide for your presentation. Can work on between now and next week.
    • Try to talk about something very specific if you are concerned about overlapping with someone else. Can also pair up with another student if you like! Make a joint slide of that is your plan. You might want to present on the topic you are exploring for your UNIV 150 Critical Reasoning Paper.
  • Peer Review Climate Perceptions & Perspectives Essay (with integrated sources). Drafts posted here.  Groups posted here.
  • Write your own “climate narrative” in your Reflective Journal. This can be any personal story in which climate plays a role (as discussed in the article on “Climate and Narrative: Environmental Knowledge in Everyday Life.” This might an anecdote you can incorporate in your paper (perhaps in the intro, returning to it again in the conclusion in a way that now incorporates what you wrote about in the essay.

Before Next Class

  • Write:
    • Polished, Fully Cited, Portfolio-Ready 5-6 Page Draft of Essay #2
      • Keep working in this folder.
      • Be sure to have in text parenthetical citations (Author Last Name and Page #) for any material in your essay that is directly quoted or paraphrased from another source as well as a Works Cited for all articles.
      • Consult this MLA Handbook for citing sources.
  • Read:
    • Keep reading We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves (will need to complete by 10/21!!!)
