Element Overview: This is the first of two inquiry projects in which you will engage this semester. The goal of each project is to have you explore an issue or problem through the lenses of three disciplines/fields to see what potential resolutions present themselves. In this first project, you will explore an issue or problem that is of personal interest or relevance to you. In your second project, you will explore an issue or problem with a broader range of stakeholders.
Element Time Frame: Weeks 1-6
Writing Tasks – Personal Inquiry Essay: You will begin to compose a proposal for your essay in class, to be emailed to the instructor. You will then complete an annotated bibliography of at least nine sources that shed light on the issue/problem you are investigating through your three chosen lenses. Your written work will culminate in a web text posted to your own CI Keys page that will incorporate relevant images.
Speaking Tasks – Personal Inquiry VoiceThread Presentation: During this Course Element, you will use VoiceThread to share a progress report on your research and receive feedback from your peers.
Assessment: This Course Element will be evaluated holistically, taking into consideration the quality, thoroughness, and timeliness of all aspects of your work. Successful projects will effectively incorporate multiple, diverse sources and creative, innovative thinking. Final products should be delivered in a manner that is engaging, entertaining, and informative for the target audience (your peers).
