- Label the Google Doc as follows:
- Portfolio # – Instructor Last Name – Class & Section # – Student ID #
- File name example: #01 – Anderson – 105.08 – 1443457
- Portfolios should follow MLA format. The one exception is that you should use your ID # in place of your name. The heading on each page should include your ID #, the page number, and the page count to make it a bit easier for the reader to know where he or she is in the document. (Page numbers and the page count can be added by using the Insert menu in Google Docs).
- Header example: 1443457 1 of 10
- Insert a page break between the first and second paper so that it easy to tell when the second paper begins. This is also available under the Insert menu on Google Docs.
- Be sure to include a heading and title for each paper.
- Common formatting edits needed:
- No extra spaces between paragraphs, before or after title, etc.
- Consistent font in header and paper (12 point Times New Roman).
- Hanging indent for Works Cited.
- Begin Works Cited after last paragraph (not new page).
- Make sure there is a page break between essays.
- Make sure there is a half inch margin above header (space down one line). And again, make sure the font is the same as in your paper.
- For parenthetical citations, period goes outside of the parentheses.
- Make sure works Works Cited entries are in alphabetical order.
- Articles titles go in quotation marks. Titles of books or journals are italicized. Follow model provided in citation worksheets.
- Label the Google Doc as follows:
- Complete a scoresheet, filling in your ID # and the class and section #. Make sure each scoresheet has your assigned portfolio # on it also in the upper right hand corner. I will pre-number scoresheets and then make sure that you get the number that corresponds with your portfolio.
- Once final portfolios are processed today in class, you will not be able to make additional changes to the document. I will make a copy of your Google Doc on the day portfolios are due, so the version that gets evaluated will not be the one you have the ability to edit.
- Consult this sheet for Works Cited for required sources.
- Important Reminder Regarding 2 Selected Portfolio Papers. Any papers you include must be complete (with in-text citations of all quoted and paraphrased material, works cited, using required readings, etc.).
